The shape is of ovoid form, decorated with pomegranates and berries on a blue ground, with a silver plated rim. Of particular interest is the original surviving handled bisque tobacco press! It is placed on the tobacco to compact it. Also the list is fitted with a sponge holder and sponge. It has Williams initials in GREEN on the base along with the small "Moorcroft", the shape number "22", and "Made in England" impressed marks enabling the piece to be accurately dated. The 'Made in' was introduced in 1918 to comply with US Import rules, and subsequent to 1920, the Moorcroft stamp was enlarged. This backstamp with a shape number included was used between 1918 and 1925. Size is 5 3/4" tall x 4 3/4" diameter. Condition is except for the usual fine crazing, some silver plate losses on the collar, and a couple of glaze skips on the base. A rare shape in the Pomegranate pattern, this jar would make a wonderful addition to any serious Moorcroft collection.   Please ask questions before bidding.
