It is one of the beautiful pieces in the America the Beautiful Collection."In 1893, on a visit to the 14,000 - foot Pikes Peak, Katherine Lee Bates was inspired by the vista to pen the words of America the Beautiful. Her reflection on that day was, 'But when I saw the view, I felt great joy. All the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with sea-like expanse.'The Mountains of Majesty Bowl is inspired by the line, 'For purple mountains majesties' from the opening verse of this inspiring poem. Mountains, with their timeless rugged beauty, have captured the hearts and minds of men and women for generations. Steadfast and enduring, they have come to symbolize the spirit of adventure, of rising to a challenge, and of facing and overcoming adversity, that has shaped such a wonderful nation.This beautiful Waterford Crystal Centerpiece celebrates the majestic mountains, which stretch across the continent of America. What the cuts in the crystal mean:The images of mountain ranges are immediately captured by the deep V cuts incised into the top of the piece. This area is then coated in a tight pattern of Upright cuts reminiscent of snow-capped peaks. Underneath this, the ruggedness of stone and rock is portrayed by an undulating expanse of crystallized diamond cutting. this pattern rise from a ring of olive cuts stretching around the bowl representing the many lakes and rivers dotted throughout the mountain ranges of America. These cuts then fall away to a looser diamond pattern just as the foothills descend the plains.Like its subject matter, this centrepiece is simple in its execution.
