Mahood Very Rare' Description Kornbys Store This is a Vintage Australian Studio Pottery Bowl which is hand crafted and features an incised pattern of underglazed speckled blue on the inside by Marguerite Mahood (1901-1988) - Extremely Rare - measuring 5.00 inches (12.70cm) in diameter and standing 1.75 inches (4.50cm) high. The item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and only some very mild crazing on underside which is normal for these items. It is signed "M. Mahood" on the base with the number "T2451" (which dates it to 1950). It was given by Margot to Joy stewart (Nee Dickens) for a wedding gift. Joy was a decorator in Guy Boyd's Melbourne Studio in the 1950's.The beginners guide to investing in pottery by Georgie and John Innes - puts Marguerite on their "Blockbuster" list - with the notation "if you can find any".Only 50 of her pieces have come onto the world market in the past 30 years.
