A most rare and unusual Zsolnay Pecs brass mounted boat-shaped vase, the single handle formed as a dancing female, with her hand resting on her hip, and painted in colours with sprays of flowers, mainly in puce, blue and green, on an off-white ground. Base is fully marked with the blue printed ‘JJM’ mark dating it to between 1878 and 1900. Of good size at 14.5 inches (37 cms) long with the figure standing 5.5 inches (14 cms) high. The figure is also marked (impressed) ‘M S’ on her back and is beautifully modeled and in excellent condition. The vase is decorated to both sides and to the inside with the multiple repeat designs of the flowers and the ceramic also has no damage or restoration – there is a small, original to firing, blob of glaze to the inside surface of the vessel towards the front.
