Description
Royal Copenhagen small porcelain sugar bowl with lidFlora Danica patternThis small sugar bowl and lid were a gift to my husband and his first wife. For the past 18 years, it has been packed away in a box. Prior to that time,it was probably just displayed in a china cabinet. Both the bowl, which holds just over 1/2 cup, and the lid have the stamp in green, with the blue water mark, and artist signature marks. The set numbers are: 20/3502. The pieces are in great condition, with no chips that I could see or feel. It is 4 1/2" wide from handle to handle (just over 3 3/4" for the bowl portion), and 2 3/4" tall, which includes the lid handle. The inside of the lid is marked as "Veronica praecox All.", which I think is the name of the flower detailed on the top of the lid. This small porcelain sugar bowl with lid was made, I think, between 1969 and 1974, if I have interpreted the markings correctly. Crown and ROYAL COPENHAGEN stamp in green under the glaze, blue wave mark, applied since 1923 Date the backstamp since 1935 Most porcelain made since 1935 can be dated by locating green dots placed above or below the letters in the company name, which is stamped on all pieces. On porcelain made in the year 1935, the dot is placed just above the first letter in the company name, eg. “R”. Each year thereafter, the dot is moved one letterto the right so that on porcelain made in the year 1936, the dot is placed above the “O”, and so on. By 1949, the dot has reached the last letter, and so in 1950, the dot once again appears next to the first letter in the company name, only now it is placed below. According to this formula, which is from the Royal Copenhagen website, this piecewas made between 1969 and 1974,since the "dot mark" is under the G in RoyalCopenhagenDenmark.Regarding the artist signature marks: There are two on each piece (both pieces are the same). One is alx; the second is gcx. I could not find specific artist info on either of these. If you have any questions, send me an email, and I will reply asap.I only accept payments via PayPal.
