The ground is the deep mottled blue. Devils Copse is one of the most sought after of Carlton Ware Art deco Lustre patterns. It first went into production in 1933. It has the black stamped under glaze maker’s mark of the style that was in use from 1925. The pattern number 3787 is clearly written on the base. I would suggest that this beauty has a production window between 1933 and 1938. Dimensions This large and prestigious centre piece measures 34 cm (13.5”) across the handles and it is 20 cm (8”) wide and it is 9.5 cm (3.75”) tall. Condition  It is in NEAR NEW condition, with NO chips, cracks stains or repairs. The pattern is free from wear. The only wear to the gilding that I can fine is to the very soles of the claw foot feet - see photos below - this wear really is nothing at all. This magnificent example has obviously lived the sheltered life of a cabinet dweller. This is a RARE pattern on a strong and vibrant ground and shape. This really is a gorgeous centre piece.
