CRAIG SWIRL PINCH JUG W/ CUP FROM VALE, NC CATAWBA VALLEYOpportunities for a BB Craig Pinch Jug with Cup simply don't come around very often...then you add in that this is a swirl piece.  This indeed is a fine specimen.As you likely know, Craig used a wood-fired hog kiln to make his pottery as it was done for centuries in the past. His work is rough and primitive but some of the most highly sought after ever! Craig passed away a few years ago so the chance to own his work, which is displayed in the Smithsonian, comes around less and less often.This particular piece is about 8 inches tall and is clearly stamped "B.B. Craig, Vale, NC". The Cup is about 3" tall and about 3" in diameter. It is also stamped.While often considered a craft, Craig's pottery is truly a work of art. The owner of this piece has held it for a number of years but is allowing us to sell it on Ebay now as she begins to wind down her collection of valuable antiques and unusual items.
