Description
makedonicus Store HAND-CRAFTED AND HAND-PAINTED BEAUTIFUL Replica from an original ancient Greek Vase       TYPE:  JUGLET  DECORATED WITH PLANTS Musem Replica       SIZE: 15" (37 cm)       #V192   The Geometric  Period.  In the art of  ancient  Greece  lasted  from the 9th through the 7th century B.C.  Some  of  the earliest geometric designs bore a close resemblance to woven basketry of previous times, simple bands of lines, some with a crisscross pattern encircling the vases. The designs progressed, first to simple geometric shape patterns, squares, triangles, and checkerboards,  and then to stylized representations of animal and human figures.  Sometimes a living figure would stand alone, but more often the animals and humans became another frieze surrounding the vase, a repetitive pattern of a single pose. Humans and animals were rendered in silhouetted sticks and triangles, with large, curved thighs and calves, and a dark round shape for a head.   Some of the more famous geometric discoveries have been of large (5 foot) funerary vases, depicting a corpse on a bier, and mourners on either side. Artists seemed to place the most important figures at the visual focal point of the vase:  the handle zone.  This seems to be the first attempt at story telling on a vase, at the time when Homer was creating his epics of heroes and wars.   Shipping and Packaging: We package our vases carefully. Depending on availability and recreation time-frame we ship within 7-30 days.   About our Greek Vases: Our vases are NOT fastly made kitsch replicas, nor are they cheaply made of substitute materials such as resin.  We stick to the materials and methods used by ancient Greeks and use only top quality ceramics and paints.  Every piece is a stunning work of art, an amazing replica of an actual historic vessel from a museum or other collection created between 2,800-2,000 years ago.   Every piece is individually hand thrown terracotta, hand-shaped, and hand-painted in exquisite detail in Greece and signed by a professional master reproduction artist which masters the art of the ancient Greek pottery. The whole process is made by hand (like in ancient times) using only top quality row materials.  We respectfully preserve the sensitivity and the dignity of ancient pieces while guaranteeing the quality and the curacy of all the pieces we reproduce.  This is why our ceramics are preferred selection of the "Hellenic Handcrafted Creations" Collection.  We offer the following types of ancient Greek vases and plates: Geometrical, Corinthian, Black figure vases, Red figure vases, White ground vases, and other.     For more info on Greek vases visit these links: (1) Wikipedia Pottery of ancient Greece: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pottery_of_ancient_Greece (2) Greek Vase Shapes: http://mkatz.web.wesleyan.edu/vases/vase_shapes.html We have many vases in our collection "Greek Vases Museum Replicas" - check out our other items!
