Description
8 St. Louis "Thistle" Highball Tumblers Rare & elegant, the finest & most prized of all glass made in the world, St. Louis 12 oz Highball glasses. 7 are in excellent condition & the 12th has a VERY tiny nic on the rim, which could be smoothed with a fine emory cloth available at most hardware stores. Replacements places a value for these highballs at over $1,600.00 so opening bid is just a little less than half off. Perfect for your Holiday entertaining or for any special occasion, or just use for display. Absolutely beautiful! Etched Thistle band is 1 1/4" wide solid gold. Most of the Thistle glassware I have seen is the Open goldwork.  The detail on these glasses is remarkable! The company was started in 1767 & is still in operation so I couldn't tell you how old these are but they show very little wear. The Thistle pattern originated in 1913 & still being made. They are 5 1/2" tall, 2 3/4" across tops & bases are 2 3/8", notched/multi-sided.  No reserve on this auction as usual. Priority shipping is FREE! PLEASE if you do not intend to pay for these items if you have the winning bid, do NOT bid. Thanks!  **I accept PayPal & their accepted online methods of payment such as debit/credit cards & echecks. $1.00 in included in shipping to help pay for packing materials. Please let me invoice you for this item. Payment is expected within 5 days  unless you email me for other arrangements. Questions? Please send me an email. Thanks! NOTICE I realize you are taking a risk ordering anything fragile online. First of all, if you collect vintage glassware, which is mostly what I sell, you're going to be biting your nails until that wonderful bowl or the set of elegant champagne glasses arrive. It is very disappointing to pick up the box & hear the sound of shards of glass clinking together! I buy to resell a lot & I know what that sound feels like in the pit of your stomach, so I want to tell you I package my glass very carefully, with lots of bubblewrap & tape so it will hold together in shipment & stuff the box with wads of crumpled newspaper, packing peanuts or old bubblewrap-whatever I can find to insure that fragile little thing will have a comfy nest while the Post Office tosses it around on it's way to you. It isn't just the Post Office, folks, I've received crushed boxes from FedEx, UPS & DHL-all of them mishandle packages & it doesn't matter if FRAGILE-GLASS is written in large red letters all over the box.The only difference in Parcel & Priority is that parcel takes longer & gives them more time to play with the boxes. At least I'm going to give your delicate glassware a fighting chance. I want you to receive your packages the same way I like to receive them - INTACT.  Sorry, folks, but I can no longer accept returns due to a buyer who wanted a refund & sent back a totally different item than the one I sold him! Please ask questions or ask for more scans or photos before you bid on one of my auctions!  You an always save on the cost of shipping when purchasing more than one of my items!  Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!   On Dec-11-08 at 08:15:42 PST, seller added the following information:****In the spirit of Christmas & I would dearly love for these beautiful little masterpieces of glass to adorn someone's Holiday table or be a wonderful gift for somone on Christmas, so the winning bidder on these St. Louis Thistle tumblers will receive $100.00 off their winning bid! Don't miss this terrific opportunity to own a set of these now!*** Merry Christmas!
